About Me

I am an artist based in London with roots in South East Turkey (Gaziantep).

Trained as a sculptural ceramic artist at Sakarya University. My work primarily uses hand building techniques to create both authentic functional and sculptural pieces.

One ongoing theme in my work is the use of traditional lace patterns (originating from my hometown in Turkey) that give a taste of East meets West - traditional lace patterns on minimalist ceramic pieces.

The tableware range reflects my family's connection with hand crafted lace making (dantel), dating back at least two generations. Every piece is handmade in clay, making it unique in my Hackney studio.

Aside from my work, I also run a creative space ‘Clapton clay room’, acting as a creative space to display ceramics in a homely interior setup.

I also act as a teacher where I share knowledge of clay and my passion onto people - facilitating learning for early stage ceramists and hobbyists alike in a range of ceramic techniques.
